Victor Wayne Welch

Victor Wayne Welch, 85, passed into heaven on October 2, 2023, in Fort Worth, TX. He was born August 5, 1938, in Colfax, Iowa, the Son of the late Robert and Martha Welch. He was known as Vic to his friends and Papa Bear to his family and grandchildren. His final resting place will be the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The ceremony will be on November 3 at 3:00 p.m. Following the ceremony, there will be a celebration of life at Inglewood Baptist Church. It is located at 1901 South Carrier Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX.

Vic and his siblings Martha Welch Nichols (Marty) and Tony Welch were raised in Texarkana, Arkansas. He attended Texarkana High School, where he played football and ran track. During his high school years, Vic was also a member of the National Guard. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Arkansas before joining the Air Force. Vic served in the Air Force for 22 years before retiring. During his time in the Air Force, he was deployed to Vietnam for two tours and had a highly decorated career. He was nominated to oversee the Crew Chief duties for Air Force One and the United States Air Force flight demonstration team, The Thunderbirds. However, Vic declined these nominations to spend more time with his family. Even after retiring from the Air Force, his love for aircraft continued as he worked for General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for 15 years before retiring again. Vic also served on the White Settlement School Board for several years. Vic enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with family. He was also a passionate Arkansas Razorbacks fan (WOOOO PIG SOOIE) and loved watching them play on TV. Vic also enjoyed coaching his three boys in baseball and football.

Preceding him in death is his sister Martha Welch Nichols and son, David Wayne Welch. He is survived by his wife Patty, sons Ted Welch, wife Gayle, Christopher Welch, wife Renda, granddaughter Briana Welch, grandson Trey Welch and wife Sara. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Cremation, 4301 E. Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX. 76119.
