Ruth Ryan was born on April 12th, 1928, and departed this life for her eternal home in the early morning of April 27th, 2021, at the age of 93.
Ruth had a long career as an accounts receivable manager for many doctors’ offices, and was an active member of her community through involvement in Eastern Star, tutoring disadvantaged youth, and volunteering at church – especially in children’s programs. Her late husband, Lloyd Ryan, was a founding member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, where she faithfully attended for over 24 years. A woman of great faith, she received Church Woman of the Year Award in 2017. Described by a neighbor as the “First Lady” of her community, she never met a stranger and countless people were touched by her wisdom and kindness. She loved gardening, reading the newspaper, walking her dog Bella, and singing hymns.
Ruth is preceded in death by John Joseph Goodwin, Jr., Lloyd Denman Ryan, Sr., son-in-law, Billy Scroggins, her parents, and by many brothers and sisters.
Ruth is survived by her beloved dog, Bella, her daughters, Janis Scroggins, Barbara Dougher (Ron), Sydney Dean (Paul), Linda Goodwin, and Lisa Kaufman (Mark), by her grandchildren Chris Duke (Michelle), Cole Scroggins (Jules), Darby Ferrer (Grey), Katy Dougher, Anna Holt (Chris), Gabby Kaufman, Grace Dean, and Ian Kaufman, by her great grandchildren, Cade Duke, Landry Duke, Cash Scroggins, and Carter Scroggins, and by many nieces and nephews, and countless friends and neighbors.
Ruth will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her, especially by her daughters and family, who have assurance in the faith that she is beyond pain and experiencing eternal happiness and peace.
