Rush Syse Obituary

Rush's journey is an inspiring one. He grew up in Chicago, IL, surrounded by his two sisters, Laverne Ott (may she rest in peace) and Janice Hooper. After graduating from Dunbar Vocational High School, Rush pursued his passion for electrical work and became a certified electrician after attending Washburn Trade School. He then dedicated forty-one years of his life to IBEW Local 134, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. Rush's unwavering commitment to his craft and his dedication to his job is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. Family is a precious gift that we must cherish and nurture every day. Deborah Barker-Syse is a loving wife who has been a constant source of support and strength. Together, they have raised five wonderful children.

Rush cherished spending time with his wife of fifty-three years, celebrating their victories at the casino, traveling to different states, playing darts, and the lottery. He loved taking his children on bike rides, and road trips, and making memories. Rush was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always there to support his family in all their endeavors. He always helped his children with electrical work in their homes.

Rush's unwavering dedication to his family and his diligent work as an electrician serves as an inspiration for us all. His kindness, protection, and support for his loved ones are a true testament to the power of love and hard work the life he had. He has shown us that with determination and a caring heart, we can achieve anything that we set our minds to.

Rush is preceded in death by his Grandfather Albert Johnson, Grandmother Ellen Johnson, Father Rush Leon Syse, Mother Juanita Syse, and his Sister, Laverne Ott.

Rush is survived by his five children; Lisa Culverson and husband Artis Culverson, Rush Leon Syse Ill and wife Vereen Syse, Lois Syse, Raphael Syse and wife Summer Syse, MaChaaYah Yahawadah and husband Ahavah Yahawadah. Rush also leaves his eight grandchildren; John, Miracle, Andrew, Phoenix, Raphael Jr., Auner, August, and Yah'Akeem (deceased). Each one of them is a reminder of the beauty and miracle of life.

Private viewing is scheduled for April 22, 2024.
