Roger Edwin Churchman was born on October 10th, 1938, in Shreveport, LA, to Harry and Bertie Churchman, and passed away on September 9th, 2021, at the age of 82 years old.
Roger was a Navy Veteran, and went on to work for many years in the steel fabrication- and later in the oil and gas industry. He traveled to different countries during his work assignments, and experienced many different cultures which he enjoyed.
Roger’s favorite past time was knitting, playing dominos and cooking.
Roger never met a stranger. He loved a good practical joke and to share his stories with family and friends, recounting childhood memories and his life's adventures.
Roger was proceeded in death by his wife of 50 beautiful years, Helen Joy Churchman, and by his son, Mark Anthony Churchman.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Southerland and husband Mike, Tracy Milam and husband Jeff, and by his two grandchildren, Tyler Milam and Addison Milam. He is also survived by his sister-in-law but sister-at-heart, Charlotte Greer, niece, Cherie Greer Lee, nephews, Christopher Greer and Chad Greer, as well as by his cousin, Jim Thomas, whom he was especially close to. There are many others to mention... he was loved and respected by all.
A Private memorial service will be held by the family in East Texas, and the date is to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
The Lord your God is in your midst. A mighty one who will save, he will take great delight in you, he will quiet you by his love. Zephaniah 3:17
