Robert Nelson Wright Sr.

Robert Nelson Wright was born on January 2nd, 1939, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, to Bernard and Mary Lipscomb, and passed away on November 14th, 2022, in Itasca, Texas, at the age of 83 years old.

Robert was raised in New Martinsville, West Virginia, where he was a proud son and brother. Robert spent a lot of his life in the Ohio Valley before moving to Texas. Robert loved his family and was especially proud to be a grandfather and great-grandfather. His career as a correctional officer was something he was fiercely proud of.

Robert loved collecting movies and anything dragon related. He was an avid golfer in his younger days. Friday nights, at R&K Diner for catfish, was something he looked forward to all week.

Robert was a loving father, step-father and grandfather. He was a huge personality and always had a joke for any situation. If you met him, you loved him. Even while he was struggling through his illness, he never lost his sense of humor. He will be truly missed.

Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Andrea Wright, siblings, James Lipscomb, David Lipscomb, Howard Myer, Patricia Snodgrass, Virginia Whinland and Julia (Cookie) Kelbough.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Diana Davidson, of Venus, Texas, son, Robert Wright Jr., of Waxahachie, Texas, daughter, Marilla Smith, of Itasca, Texas, daughter, Davina Gooding, of Kennedale, Texas, grandchildren, Joshua Stewart, John Stewart III, Craig Wright, Dillon Wright, Grace Wright, Noah Manono and Schylaur Lara, and great-grandson, Joshua Stewart Jr., siblings, Helen Agar, Jessie Thompson, Bernard Lipscomb, of New Martinsville, West Virginia, and Carol Quinn, of Sistersville, West Virginia. Robert was “Uncle Bob” to many nieces and nephews, and he was “Papi” to many other step-children and step-grandchildren.

A service will be held on Monday, November 28th, 2022, at 10:30am at the Wagon Wheel Cowboy Church of Waxahachie. The address is as follows: 328 Hoyt Road, Waxahachie, Texas 75167.
