Robert Lee Montgomery was born on January 24th, 1931, in Dallas, Texas, to Jewel Sanders Montgomery and to Ruby Lee Parsley, and passed away on April 17th, 2023, in Rowlett, Texas, at the age of 92 years old, after a brief illness.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lyndall, by their 3 children; sons, Cecil Douglas Montgomery and David Lee Montgomery and his wife, Regina, and daughter, Lynda Lee Johnson. He had 5 grandchildren (Michael, Rachel, Christina, Lauren and Kiri) and 8 great-grandchildren (Nikole, Cameron, Gabriel, Conor, Clara, Mariah, Chloe and Emily). He is also survived by 3 siblings; sister, Carol Ann McNeill, and brothers, James Patrick Montgomery and Richard Michael Montgomery.
Robert grew up in the Arcadia Park neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Sunset High School in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force from September 1950 to 1954, after enlisting shortly after the start of the Korean War.
Robert attended the University of Houston and earned his BS Electrical Engineering and BS Math in 1960. He also took some EE Graduate classes at both, the University of Houston and Rice University. He started working at Texas Instruments in 1959, and later joined Marlow Industries in 1978, retiring in 1998. While at Marlow Industries, he was granted a US Patent as the inventor of the Thermoelectric Power Generating Device. Some of the components he built, ended up on the Hubble Space Telescope launched into orbit in 1990.
Robert loved all the Dallas sports teams and the University of Houston, and rarely missed a game. He also loved playing bridge at the Rowlett Community Center.
Robert was a great husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, and he will be missed by all.
The family will have a small private Memorial Service at a later date.
