Robert (“Bob”) John Grabow never met a stranger. He was born on May 18th, 1950, in Glencoe, Minnesota, and died September 16th, 2022, at the age of 72, after courageously battling congestive heart failure for over 8 years.
Bob grew up in Stewart, Minnesota, and graduated from Stewart High School in 1968. He went to the University of North Dakota on a football scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. While a football injury cut short his young football coaching career, Bob was more fortunate in his personal life. He met the love of his life, Carol, while at UND. They married in 1973 and shortly thereafter moved to Dallas, Texas, where they raised two sons, Jared and Robby.
Bob loved and thrived in sales, and in 1983 he and Carol started Grabow and Associates Inc., a client-first agency that provided high-end entertainment and speakers for private and corporate events throughout the world. As they traveled to Hawaii, Canada, Europe and throughout the US, customers, business partners, musicians and celebrities alike inevitably became life-long friends. Bob had a gift for telling stories, and his rich professional and family life were a bountiful source of entertaining material. Wherever he went, Bob’s warmth, hospitality and commanding presence made him the center of any room.
Bob’s passion for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was his foundation, his love for his family shined through it all, and he leaves behind a legacy of service to the local body of believers. Both Bob and Carol were active members of Irving Bible in their early years, and were challenged by the late Dr. Stan Toussaint to move to north Dallas and help plant Bent Tree Bible Fellowship. Bob was on the elder board of Bent Tree for 25 years. More recently, Bob and Carol have been members of Prestonwood Church. Their house in north Dallas was a second home to many, but Bob was truly at home anywhere he could meet people and make new friends, share his faith, or enjoy good meals and sporting events with family and friends.
Bob is survived by Carol, his wife and soulmate of nearly 50 years, by his sons Jared, and his wife Nicole, and Robby, and his wife, Karen, and by five beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Heidi, David, Fia Rose, and newly born Luke. Bob is also survived by brothers Jim, his wife Ginny, and their families, and Dean, his wife Joanie, and their families. His is also survived by mother-in-law Ruth Shepard, brothers-in-law Lyle Shephard, his wife Karen, and their families, Paul Shephard, his wife Melaine, and their families, and special friends the Greenwood family.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, September 30th, at 2PM, at Prestonwood Baptist Church Chapel, Plano, Texas.
Bob requested that all memorials go to the Prestonwood Pregnancy Center.
