Randal Fitzhugh Ford, 79, of Midlothian, TX, passed away on October 20, 2021 in Midlothian, TX.
The family invites you to join them as they celebrate Randy’s life. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall.
Randy was born in Anniston, Alabama, the first child to Thomas Champe Jr. and Edna Hosey Fitzhugh on April 27, 1942. She graduated from Waco High School in 1959. She attended Baylor University, graduating in 1962 with a BS in Education. She married Glenn Ford on August 25, 1962 in Waco, TX at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Randy’s devotion to Glenn was evident as they raised their three unique, but equally strong-minded children, Michael, Matthew, and Megan. Randy proudly navigated life in an organized manner as a faithful wife, cherished mother, and a distinguished educator.
From 1962 till 1989, Randy inspired hundreds of students as the “must have” elementary and secondary teacher in Waco ISD, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, Mission ISD, and Killeen ISD. In 1993, Randy left the K-12 classroom for various positions in administration and higher education. As a lifelong learner, Randy continued her own education by receiving her Masters in General and Special Education from the University of Mary Hardin- Baylor and her Doctorate of Educational Psychology and Gifted Education from her beloved Baylor University. She finished her esteemed educational career by teaching, mentoring, and empowering countless future educators at Baylor University, University of Texas at Arlington, and Tarleton State University.
Randy was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Cindy Harris.
Randy is survived by her husband, Glenn Ford, her three children; Michael Ford (Katy), Matt Ford, and Megan Fulbright (Donald), 11 grandchildren; Matthew Wayne Ford, Michael Ray Ford (Caitlin), Ashley McKee (Dustin), Nicole Glasscock (Justin), Owen Ford, William Fulbright and Betsy Fulbright; 13 great grandchildren, her sister Wendy Crowley (David) and brother, Thomas Champe Fitzhugh III (Jan), sister-in-law Jana Arnold (KO), a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. Randy is also survived by the dearest of friends, near and far, who were as close as family and those that she poured years of her soul into in and out of the classroom.
