Phillip Martin Tanner, age 61, better known to his beloved family and friends as Phil, passed away on November 24, 2021 in Springtown, TX.
Phil was born on April 30, 1960 to Robert Tanner and Ruth Harkey Tanner in Lansing, Michigan. He moved to Texas in 1983 where he enjoyed the lifestyle, weather and raising his family. Throughout his career, Phil held many jobs he was passionate about, however, no job made him more proud than his most recent with Lockheed Martin as an aerospace machinist specializing in low observable coating for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.
Phil will be remembered by his surviving son Spencer Tanner, step-daughter Jillian (Trey) Reed, brother John (Josette) Tanner, sisters Linda (Wayne) Morse and Sonja Giesken, and ex-wife Terrie Sargent, as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Phil could be described as a kind, selfless, loving, and positive man. He was an animal lover and a humble beast in the gym. When Phil wasn't with his family and friends, at work, or with his 2 dogs and 5 cats, he was at the gym training to compete in another powerlifting competition. Phil was always seen trying to be of service to others and his animals before doing anything for himself. He helped anyone that welcomed his knowledge and teachings, which so many did, producing state and national records in powerlifting. Phil will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew him, as his spirit will live on in our hearts and lives.
A Celebration of Phil's Life will take place at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas on Dec. 3, 2021 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts you may also contribute to https://bestfriends.org/ in memory of Phil Tanner.
