Paul Purdue Obituary

Paul Stanley Purdue, age 91, of Lewisville, TX (formerly of Oswego, IL for over 50 yrs.) passed away on May 3, 2022, at 5:40 p.m. He was born on December 14, 1930 in Kell, Illinois, the son of Charles and Ruby (Self) Purdue. 

Paul was united in marriage on June 11, 1955 to Billie “Sue” Purdue, and they spent the next 57 years of their lives together. Paul and Sue were longtime active members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Yorkville, IL and served on several committees. Paul was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Company and retired in 1990 after 40 years of service. 

He was proud to be a U.S. Marine and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Yorkville, IL. He enjoyed many activities including tinkering in the garage on cars and more, country western dancing, fishing and hunting.  He loved riding his motorcycle with his wife.  Paul belonged to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and helped to start a new local chapter along with his neighbor.  He and his wife enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies and camping at parks and campgrounds in several different states.  

Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. 

He is survived by his two daughters, Paula and Deb Purdue, both of Lewisville, TX; his grandson, Kris (Kourtni) Smith, of Ft. Worth, TX; his great granddaughters, Amelia Truesdell and Gracie Smith; his sister, Betty Hooten, of Kell, IL; and three brothers, Raymond (Connie) Purdue, of East Peoria, IL; Melvin (RoseAnn) Purdue, of Abilene, KS; and Larry (Barb) Purdue, of Leesburg, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie “Sue” Purdue; his parents, Charles and Ruby Purdue; and his sister, Wilma Pauline Drenckpohl.

Funeral Services will be held with military honors on Tuesday, May 24th at 1:30p.m. at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX  75211 with interment following the ceremony. The recording of Paul's funeral is available: here.

You can donate online at www.trinityum.net or mail a check to Trinity Church United Methodist, 2505 Boomer Lane, Yorkville, IL  60560. Please write “Paul Purdue” in the memo line of the check or in the “Other Designation” box online so that they will know it was donated in Paul’s honor. Paul and Sue enjoyed contributing their time and money to helping others through their church.
