Paul Edgar Obituary

Paul Owen Edgar, 69, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 30th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on December 20th, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Don and Peggy Edgar.

Paul was raised in the Diamond Hill neighborhood of Fort Worth with his five siblings. The close quarters of the family's home on Jasper Street was a welcoming space for large family get togethers, kitchen table Bible studies, gatherings around the piano for song and dance, and the occasional quarrel over the home's only bathroom or the party line rotary phone on the wall. This bustle of activity was the foundation for close knit relationships with family and friends.

In his youth, Paul could be found on the baseball field, with a guitar in his hands, singing in church or performing at the Isis Theatre with his siblings. Paul graduated from Diamond Hill Jarvis High School in 1973. After graduation, he pursued a long career as an industrial machine mechanic which allowed him the opportunity to travel all over the United States and internationally as a Field Service Representative and Trainer. In addition, Paul was contracted for several years with General Dynamics and LTV to work on the MD-11, F-16, and Boeing 747 aircrafts. Outside of work life, Paul enjoyed spending time with family, home building projects, gardening, making music, and sharing the Gospel with others into his final days. Paul served a number of years as a Deacon, worship leader, and youth group leader at his local Community Bible Church. In retirement, Paul continued to use his gifts of carpentry to complete several building projects and enjoyed many years working as a parking attendant at the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

Paul was known for his caring heart, his humorous one-liners, and the witty song lyrics he wrote. To his family he was a loving Dad, "Paw Paw Paul", son, brother, and uncle. His favorite thing to tell his family was, "You're my favorite...besides all those other ones."

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Don Edgar Sr.; his mother, Peggy Edgar; and his wife, Cheryl Edgar.

He is survived by his loving children: Michael Edgar (his wife, Elizabeth) and Mandy Peterson (her husband, Eric); grandchildren: Hopie (Aaron) Garcia, Hayden Edgar, Madelyn Peterson, Cara Peterson, and Rhett Peterson; great-granddaughter: Lucy Garcia; his siblings: Darla Edgar, Darwin (Becky) Edgar, Denita (Dwayne) Owen, Darrell (Theresa) Edgar, Karen (Chris) King and many nieces and nephews.
