Nathan Louis Rivers, son and brother, was born May 29, 1964, to Thomas Lee Rivers and Irene Delores Taylor in Austin, Texas. He was raised with his sister, Opal Liquinta Rivers. In 1982, Nathan graduated from John H Reagan High School. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was employed with Goodwill. In 1985, Nathan started working for Big Lot
Stores and continued for 20 years.
Nathan was an avid enthusiast of World War I, World War II, and the Korean War air crafts and battle field equipment. He traveled yearly to Houston, El Paso, California, Louisiana, and Michigan air shows. He was considered an aviation historian specializing in war planes. At the air shows you could hear him telling the history of specific planes. He was known as ‘Colonel’ to his colleagues. Nathan’s other interests included building model planes and ships and artistry with pencils and paints. He loved jazz and rhythm & blues music; he played the guitar, piano, and cello. Nathan loved to sing and recorded 3 songs. He also loved to eat and enjoyed cooking all kinds of cuisines. Once a month he cooked for different families and friends.
Nathan was a head-strong and persuasive individual. He had a driving will to accomplish whatever he set his mind to; failure was not an option. He had a determined spirit to always think positive.
Nathan is Preceded in death by his father Thomas Lee Rivers and his step-father Benjamin Garcia.
Nathan leaves to cherish in memory his mother Irene Delores Garcia, his sisters Opal L. Rivers, Sylvia J Garcia-Luera and Iris Y. Pineiro, three aunts, three uncles, and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
