Nancy Jenkinson Obituary

Nancy "Nan" Seiley Jenkinson was born in Beaumont, TX, to Benjamin and Mary Lucille Seiley. She passed away on Friday, January 29th, 2021, at the age of 79 years.

Nan grew up in Lake Charles, LA, with her brothers, Robert and Dennis Patrick "Pat". She graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, LA, in 1960, and went on to marry James "Jim" Wheeler Jenkinson, with whom she shared two daughters. She worked in the dental field for 30+ years, assisting with office tasks and handling front desk duties. She loved her work and had a knack for helping to soothe anxious patients before their appointments.

After marrying, she moved to Rochester, NY, to be closer to Jim's family and to raise their family. In 1974 she moved to Houston, TX, to be closer to her own family, after losing her father as well as to assist her mother as she began to age.

Nan had many creative talents and enjoyed gardening, wood working, and various crafting; specifically crafts that involved sewing. She was also very active in her Church community over the years and participated in many volunteer opportunities with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was so grateful to have found the Church with the community it offered and for the many wonderful friends that it brought. She was a hardworking mother who did all she could to make sure that her girls had everything they needed. She was a nurturing Nana, who always worked hard to make sure she helped to guide her grandchildren in the best way she knew how. She was a supportive Nana to her great-grandaughters as well, by offering encouragement and guidance. She loved her family with all she had.

Nan is preceded in death by her cherished Grandmother, "Mamaw," whom she absolutely adored, her Father (she was always a daddy's girl), her Mother, her brother Pat, and many other cherished family members and friends.

Nan is survived by both of her daughters, Kathryn Gonzales and Kristin Jenkinson, 3 grandchildren: Sarah Hilligiest (and husband Joseph), PJ Mallioux, and Erick Mallioux, and 3 great-grandchildren: Serenity, Sovi, and Joey Hilligiest. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lynn Seiley (wife to Pat), and her older brother, Robert "Bobby" Seiley, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nan also leaves behind many friends she made along the way, several of whom were made through the Church and who rallied around her family during this hard time. Thank you to those who helped to make this service possible and worked so hard to ensure that all of her final wishes were met.

Her service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Keller, TX, on Saturday, February 6th, 2021, at 12pm CT. Due to COVID, the service will be small.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider an act of kindness to someone in your community. Nan was known for small, random acts of kindness such as opening someone else's door, letting someone with fewer groceries skip her in line, or even just cracking a corny joke to make someone's day a bit brighter.

Nana, you will be very missed, but we are all so grateful to have been able to know you and to call you our Mom/Nana/Friend/Family. You've touched so many hearts and lives that we know you'll never truly be gone. Until we meet again, we'll carry you with us. We love you forever and always.
