Lawrence Gordon Jackson Jr

Lawrence Gordon Jackson Jr. born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 28, 1946, to Father Lawrence Gordon Jackson Sr. and Mother Miney Inez Higginbotham peacefully passed away on September 29, 2021, at the age of 75 after several years of declining health.

Lawrence was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to work multiple jobs throughout his life. He was a newspaper carrier for many years, a gas station clerk, and a security officer before he was forced to give up his career due to his health. He was a storyteller who loved to tell jokes and show off his magic tricks everywhere he went. This is what made him memorable to everyone he came across. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, cooking, building things, drinking coffee at Waffle house with his best friend Rodney and taking his Grandchildren to McDonalds. However, what he enjoyed most was taking the scenic route because he believed that in order to get the most out of the journey, you need to make sure you slow down and enjoy the views.

Preceded in death by his parents Miney & Lawrence Jackson Sr.; his brother William Jackson and sister Bonnie Joyner.

Survived by his wife of 36 years Nora Jackson; his children and their spouses Windy Shell (David Shell Sr.), Annette Dickson (Jeff Dickson), Cathy McNett (Carvel McNett), Michael Cercy, Candy Jackson Zamarripa (Fernando Zamarripa), Kimberly Perez (John Perez), Nora Mellany Jackson (Sonesay Mala); his 16 grandchildren; 12 great grand children; siblings Lynda Vining, Jean Austin, Marion Wood and Debbie Wise; many extended family members and dear friends as well as his beloved dogs Tum Tum & Lilly.
