Joseph Nelms Tipton Jr., 73, passed away Monday May 1, 2023 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Texas.
He was born on June 8, 1949 in Kingsport, Tennessee. He graduated from the Tennessee Military Institute and East Tennessee State University.
He worked at Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. 25 years, where he was a Regional Vice-president of Sales, which brought his family to Texas in 2001.
Joe was a Presbyterian by faith, and a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Greeneville, Tennessee prior to moving to Texas.
He enjoyed reading about the Civil War and visiting most all of the battlegrounds, golf, walking, hiking and researching his ancestors.
Preceding him in death were his son Joseph Nelms Tipton, III; his parents, Joseph Nelms Tipton Sr. and Louise Faust Tipton; Brother in-law Mike Pullin.
Joe was the grandson of the late Dr. Enoch William Tipton and Kate Nelms Tipton; John Edgar Faust and Gertrude Pectol Faust.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Caseley Tipton; daughter, Laura Frances Tipton; Two sisters and son-in-law, Penny Tipton Lewis and husband Larry, Germantown, Tennessee; Trudi Tipton Pullin, Knoxville, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Patricia Nugent and husband Paul Nugent, of W. Richland, Washington. Beloved cousins, nephews and nieces; special friends Ken and Cathy Moss, Linda Miller, Bucky Buchanan, and his special puppy Soni.
Joe loved life and lived every minute to the fullest.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Neuro ICU for their excellent care and consideration for both his wishes and his family.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park, at the following address: 800 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee, on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at 11AM, for family and friends.
