Dr. John Michael Roberson of Duncanville, Tx, “Mike” to friends and family, passed away in the early hours of March 12th after a brief illness. He was 77 years old. Dr. Roberson was born in Dalhart, TX on 9/24/45, the second child and first son of Myrtice Ellen and Bob J. Roberson (he is survived by his older sister Susan Watkins). Raised in Levelland, he attended North Texas State University where he met his future wife, Rebecca “Becky” Shirley Roberson, whom he married in January of 1967. The first of their four children, Chris, was born while the couple were still living in Memphis, TN while he was finishing his dental degree at the University of Tennessee, followed by three more children after the couple relocated to Duncanville—Brooke and Mary, fraternal twins, and Jenny.
Generations of patients were served by Dr. Roberson’s dental practice for the better part of five decades until his recent retirement. In addition to dentistry Mike’s passions included fishing, tinkering in his shop, and most of all his family, and he was forever and always “Pops” to his large number of grandchildren, including John and Henry Bumgarner, Danny Roberson, Margaret and Grace Johnson, and Michael and Rebecca Roberson. After the death of his wife in 2010 Dr. Roberson spent his remaining years surrounded by his family and his cherished memories in the house that the couple had called home. He was deeply loved, and will be dearly missed. A private service will be held in his memory.
