John Vinson Pybus, of Grand Prairie, TX, passed away on January 7, 2022 at the age of 67 years. John was born in Dallas, Texas to Lawton (Ed) Pybus and Nina Pybus. He had two brothers, Dale and Von, and a step-brother, Michael Downs. He grew up in Dallas and then Grand Prairie and attended local schools. He worked in his father's business and became very athletic, enjoying gymnastics in his teen years. He attended military school at Allen Academy for one year. John had a very outgoing personality and had many friends. While living and working in Grand Prairie he met Belia Almanza and on February 14, 1993 they were married at Turnpike Church of Christ.
John's faith and interest in serving God blossomed in those years and he joined a prison and jail ministry team where, along with his brother-in-law, Joe and others, he brought thousands of inmates to know the Lord Jesus. After returning home he would spend hours writing to the inmates he had befriended. John served the church, and his brothers and sisters at every opportunity. He was often seen around town, preaching the Good News of Jesus and helping those on the streets. His life was focused on following his Lord and Savior.
John was a loving husband, brother, son and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Belia Pybus, five children, fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, his brothers Von and Dale and Dale's wife, Annette, a nephew Lawton Pybus of Denver and his family and a niece, Carrie Smith and her husband, Jake, in Clarion, Pennsylvania. He truly loved his family and friends. "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." (Exodus 20:12) "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior's hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them!" Psalm 127:3,4 "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." Eph. 5
John was preceded in death by his father Ed Pybus, his mother Nina Pybus - Smith and his step brother Michael Downs.
