James Edward Smith, more affectionally known as Jim to family and friends passed away with his family by his side on April 8, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Ronnie Smith and Denise Montminy Smith in Fort Lauderdale Florida on March 1, 1965.
Jim grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and then moved to Tyler, TX. as a teenager. Jim graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Business at the University of North Texas in Denton. Jim married Lisa in 1997 and moved to Pittsburg, TX where he raised two daughters, Lauren and Lexi. He was currently working for ITEX Construction in Shreveport, LA.
Jim loved to hunt, fish, and golf. He enjoyed going to Florida every summer with his family and Colorado hunting with friends every fall. He spent most of his spare time outdoors. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and often included them in his outdoor activities. He loved hanging out with friends and fishing on any body of water he could find.
Jim was a loving husband, father, and Pawpaw. He was very caring and never met a stranger. Jim was a great listener and went out of his way to make others feel special. He had many friends and always had a joke or a hunting/fishing story to tell. Jim loved classic rock, and enjoyed asking his friends and family music trivia questions. He was most proud of his daughters and grandkids.
Jim is survived by his wife Lisa Smith, his daughter Lauren Guajardo and husband Jube, his daughter Lexi Green and husband, Alex, his mother Denise McElvogue and step-father, Don McElvogue, father-in-law Steve Tomme and mother-in law Judy Tomme. He is survived by 3 grandchildren, Xander Guajardo, Evelyn Guajardo, and Summit Green. Jim has one step-brother, Matt McElvogue, sister-in-law Chris McElvogue and nephews, Sean and Will McElvogue. He has one brother-in-law Brent Tomme.
Jim's Celebration of Life will be at 4 P.M. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the McNutt Venue, located at 775 CR 1140, Pittsburg, TX 75686.
