Gerald Ray Scott was born in Memphis, TN on May 23, 1937 to Harry Wood Scott and Josephine Hathcock Scott, passed away on November 7, 2023 at 86 years old following a battle with Alzheimer’s. Ray grew up in Memphis, TN and graduated from Frayser High School in 1955. Soon after, Ray relocated to Texas in his early 20’s to pursue a career in the finance and banking industry. He started his career with a finance company before he moved on to Texas Commerce Bank. He then proceeded to Seagoville State Bank and finally retired after 50+ years in the industry. Ray’s passions were the Lord and his Family. He not only attended Glenview Baptist Church for more than 30+ years, but he taught many years of Sunday School to 2nd and 3rd graders as well.
Gerald Ray Scott was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He loved cheering on his grandchildren and watching them excel. His most cherished possession was his Bible. The world lost a Godly, loving, caring and one-of-a-kind man with his passing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ray was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Bert and Gene Scott. Ray is survived by his daughter Shauna Scott Gore and husband James Gore, son Tim Scott and wife Angie Scott, grandkids Kenzie and Cason Gore and Erin and Sara Scott, and sister Carol Scott Brandon. He was greatly loved and respected by all.
His Memorial will be held in Tipton County at the Quito Cemetery on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.
