Gary Lee Callahan was born on July 20th, 1953, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Frank and Josephine Callahan, and passed away on November 6th, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 70 years old.
Gary was born in- and lived most of his childhood in Grand Prairie, Texas. Gary grew up with his brothers, Michael, and Anthony, and his sister, Janet Sue. He had worked several years as an over-the-road truck driver, until he slipped on some ice while on the job, and injured his head and was forced into retirement.
In Gary’s heart, he was an artist starting from the fifth grade. He was the music teacher's pet and had talent for drawing and enjoyed writing music. For a while, he worked as a chef, in the hotel industry.
Gary was an extrovert who loved people and was comfortable being the center of attention. One time in eighth grade science class, the teacher asked a question and Gary raised his hand. When the teacher called upon him - instead of answering the question - he told a joke which caused the rest of the class to break out and laughter. The teacher got a little bit annoyed, but also had a smile on his face, and ask Gary to please answer the question, and he did. Gary had a very kind heart and soul.
Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine (Joan), and his father, Frank Callahan
Gary is survived by his brothers, Michael, and Anthony Callahan, his sister, Janet, Sue McLaughlin, Angelia Messina, Nephew, Jacob Culberson, and niece, Christina Spitler.
There will be a small memorial. The date and time are not yet determined.
Gary, you are very loved, and will always be in our hearts.
