Obituary

Frank George Leo was born on April 2nd, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to Salvatore Leo and to Benedetta Arra, and passed away on August 31st, 2023, in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 91 years old.

Frank grew up in Brooklyn, New York, alongside his brother, Michael, and his sister, Lenore. Frank attended Edison Technical High School. Frank then attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, for three years. He then transferred to Albany Law School, where he obtained his law degree. During law school, Frank met the love of his life, Theresa Marie Bell. They were married on June 29th, 1958. After college, Frank worked as a lawyer with various legal entities in New York State and also as an insurance adjuster.  Frank was also a junior high school teacher and worked as a lawyer for American Airlines, eventually bringing him and his family to Texas. Frank retired as a lawyer with American Airlines and continued to work as a consultant for Sky Chef.

Frank was an outstanding scholar. He was president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Nation Thespian Society, President of his senior class and crowned “Mr. Edison” at his Senior Prom. Frank graduated as the Valedictorian at his high school and attended Hamilton College on an academic scholarship. He also enjoyed sports, acting, song, and dance. Frank had a passion for baseball, nicknamed “King Kong” by his teammates for his batting power. He performed in numerous high school plays and enjoyed announcing at his high school sporting events. Frank always enjoyed music and dance. He was not afraid to sing a song to others and break into his favorite dance moves. Even with all that Frank was involved in, his main priorities were God and family. He loved writing about his relationship with God and attended Bible studies throughout his retirement.

Frank was an accomplished lawyer, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. His work was meticulous. Frank was a kind, gentle, and softspoken man, who always made time for others. Frank loved his family, and his family loved him.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Benedetta, and by his brother, Michael.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Marie Leo, by his sister, Lenore Moretti, by his son, Timothy Leo, by his daughter, Christina LaPenna, and by his son, Matthew Leo. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Service and Inurnment on October 14th, 2023, at 2:00PM, at the First United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Frank’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or to your favorite cancer charity.
