Donnie Reed, 68, of Grand Prairie, Texas, died Monday April 8th, 2024. Donnie was born in Summerville, Georgia, on April 18th, 1955, to Billie John Meeler, and was raised with his sister, Diane. They moved to Texas in the 1960s and grew up in the Oak Cliff area. He attended Sunset Highschool and did a short stint in the Navy. He worked for almost 30 years in the telecommunications field, doing cable installation with store cable and finally as Fiber Technician with Time Warner, in the DFW area. Donnie lived for the last 30+ years in Grand Prairie, Texas, and shared his home with Christy Miller.
Later in life, he met his half-brother, Joe, and learned that he was not the baby of the family.
Donnie loved superhero movies (especially Wonder Woman) and anything Sci-Fi. He enjoyed working on cars and his motorcycle and even rebuilt a truck engine in his front yard. He fixed lawn mowers, scooters, and all the drones he crashed. He had a love for dogs and at one time had as many as 7 of them.
Donnie would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, he was always willing to help out, especially his family. He put together more bikes than one could count and multiple trampolines for his kids and grandkids. He was a loving father and supported any endeavors his daughters wanted to pursue - he really was only a phone call away. Donnie was a wonderful friend and the best father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Donnie is preceded in death his mother, Billie John Meeler.
Donnie is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Miller and Lenna Reed; grandchildren, Hannah and Jensen; his sister, Diane Wise, brother, Joe Barnes, and his nieces, Brandy and Teri. He will be remembered by the many people who knew and loved him throughout the years.
A celebration of life will be decided at a later date.
