Dolores Colon Ramos
December 21, 1934 - August 17, 2023
Dolores Colon Ramos, 88, passed away on August 17, 2023. She was born on December 21, 1934, in
Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico. Daughter of Americo Colon and Obdulia Ramos. Dolores lost her mother at
3 years of age and father at 7. She continued to live with her loving stepmother, Juana Soto, before
moving to Ponce, P.R. with Juanas sister, Isabel, at about age 12. She moved to New York City with her
Uncle Baldomero at age 15. Then she married Gilberto Semidey in 1954 in NY at age 19 and had three
beautiful children (Walter, Michael and David).
She loved dancing, singing, teaching aerobics, and playing dominoes. She adored going to the beautiful
beaches in Puerto Rico just to relax and take in the fresh air. But her greatest passion was her family.
Due to the loss of her parents at such an early age she made it a priority to dedicate most of her time to
being a loving mother and grandmother. Anyone who ever knew her would never doubt that...she was the
Greatest!!!
Simply put she was a "Warrior". The deck was stacked against her from the beginning, but she would not
use that as an excuse to give up. She was strong-willed, outgoing, determined, and persistent. Never
taking no for an answer and reaching her life's goals. Her persistent effort led her to being a Leader in the
community. She displayed a loving nature that was admired by all. Great Charisma made her the ideal
Mom, friend, companion. In addition she had outstanding sales skills, repeatedly leading her company in
product sold.
Dolores is preceded in death by siblings Santos, Genita, Eustaquio and Americo Jr .(only surviving) last
name Colon.
She is survived by children Walter, Michael and David Semidey; Grandchildren Alexis, Andrew,
Kristopher, Sheala, Stephanie, Josh and Eric; Great Grandchildren Elliana, Jayden, Dylan, Sophia,
Gianna, G Jovanni, Ella.
We will miss her dearly: she was the rock and without a doubt the "Matriarch" of our family. Her favorite
bible Verse Psalm 23: 1-6. The Lord is my Shepherd. I have everything I need. He lets me rest in green
pastures. He leads me to calm water. He gives me new strength. He leads me on paths that are right for
the good of his name. Even if I Walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid. Because you are with
me. Your rod and your walking stick comfort me. You prepare a meal for me in front of my enemies. You
pour oil on my head: you fill my cup to overflowing. Surely your goodness and love will be with me all my
life, and I will live in the house of the lord forever. AMEN!!!
