Diane Kathleen Houston was born on August 9th, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Neal Shelton Laverty and to Myrtle Bell Smith, and passed away on August 27th, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 75 years old.
Diane grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, alongside her two younger brothers, Neal Whyman Laverty and John Carey Laverty. She graduated from Lake Worth High School. Later, she attended Flo Valley Community College and St. Luke’s Nursing School. She then worked in the Medical Field as a Registered Nurse.
Diane liked to watch TV - she loved to watch movies and eat popcorn. Her favorite movie was Alien. My mother always wanted to be a nurse. She raised her two daughters as a stay-at-home-mother up until her oldest daughter started middle school, thereafter she went to the local community college, and then transferred to St. Luke’s Nursing School.
Diane had a great sense of humor. She did not even have to say anything, her facial expressions said it all. She had the prettiest brown eyes and the sweetest dimples.
Diane is survived by her daughters, Kelly Kathleen Word and Kerry Sue Mullings, by her sons-in-law, David Word and Jerry Mullings, by her grandchildren, Jessica Word Roberts, Cody Mullings, and Kara Mullings, by her great-grandchildren, Miles Ryan Roberts, Zachary David Roberts, Finn Thomas Roberts, and Olivia Belle Mullings, and by her great-aunt, Sue Ellis.
Cremation took place on September 7th, 2023. Diane’s daughter, Kelly, brought her back to Georgia with her thereafter.
Mom, I will always love you. I will miss our phone calls. You always had a way to always make me laugh. You always gave me great advice and always had my best interest at heart. You always protected me and now it’s my turn to protect you until the day I die.
