Denna Johnston

Denna was born May 20, 1954 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Thomas Ray Johnston and Jackie Dean (Pierce) Johnston. She lived most of her life in Burleson, Texas.

Denna loved the sunshine on her face and the wind in her hair, taking drives, and sitting on her back porch. She enjoyed concerts and traveling to new places. Denna was also well-known for her cooking abilities and thoroughly enjoyed sharing recipes.

She was known for her kind heart, independent spirit, and sassy comebacks. When she was happy, it was expressed through a huge smile and at least one joke, because she wanted others to be happy with her. She was a proud Texas lady with a distinct Texas accent, always having hair and nails that were “done”.

Not only was Denna loved by her family and a wide group of friends, but she loved them back deeply. Facebook was a place she could spend time interacting with her favorite people both near and far. But she especially cherished her best friend of 50+ years, Mary Ward. Their friendship was the most meaningful relationship to her. If a person knows one, they also know the other. 

Denna is reunited with her father Ray and her sister Nicki. She is survived by her mother Jackie, her brother Michael Johnston and wife Patsy, her brother Mark Johnston, and nieces & nephews Michelle Radford, Chris Johnston, Kim Johnston, April Riley, Angie Williams, Philip Johnston, several great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.

We expect that she has now greeted many of her furry pets, and will eagerly await the arrival of the rest.

Denna’s family and friends were honored to have her in their lives. This warmth for her best friend extended to Mary’s brother Mike and his girls Brandy, Nicole, and Sarah, whom she considered a part of her family.
