Angelia “Angie” Bennett
December 27, 1971 – September 22, 2021
Angelia “Angie” Bennett born in Dallas, Texas on December 27, 1971 to John and Sharron Bennett passed away on September 22, 2021. Angie grew up in Mesquite, Texas, where she graduated from North Mesquite High School. Angie, like all the greatest minds, applied her natural curiosity and considerable intellect to master systems at her workplaces that no one else could figure out. If something was difficult to design and execute, “just ask Angie” was the solution.
Angie started her career working for Hilton Hotels in customer service. In 2000, Angie landed a job at her dream company, Southwest Airlines, where she worked for 21 years. Angie started in provisioning, tracking those little liquor bottles, and advanced to Sr. HR Technology Analyst by the time of her death. More than anything, Angie valued her friendships at Southwest, where her many beloved co-workers were like family to her.
Angie had many varied interests especially travel, photography, quilting, crocheting, reading sci-fi and mysteries, journaling, and loving her cats and dogs. Her longtime friends, Ronald “Ronnie” Gunstanson, and Kim Ikovic were her favorite partners in crime for her many adventures, which included smuggling Cuban cigars into the United States. For Christmas cheer, Angie’s one and only peanut butter candy was fought over and gratefully gobbled up by all.
Angie was the youngest of four siblings. With a nine-year gap from her birth to that of her closest sibling, Angie was the “baby” of the family by age. But Angie was no baby, she had independence and self-assurance that impressed everyone. Over the last three years, during her struggle with cancer, she showed her resilient and optimistic gusto for life, laughingly posting pictures of her favorite wigs, hats or caps personally designed to cover her hair loss. Angie made her biggest stylist splash by dying her hair a bright, grape purple, her favorite color.
Angie was proceeded in death by her sister, Jean Arnwine. Angie is survived by her parents, John and Sharron Bennett; her sister Dee Terzo; her favorite brother Johnny Bennett and husband Joe Ball; nephew Ashley Arnwine and wife Ryoko; niece Merilee Duran and husband Ricky; niece Crystal Herrera and husband Josh; nephew David Witherspoon and wife Chelsea; nephew Matthew Bennett; niece Nicki Bennett; and nephew John Bennett and wife Brittney. There are many others to mention … she was loved by all.
