Direct Cremation is the disposition of human remains by cremation, without the added cost of embalming, formal viewing, or ceremony. Our charges include all of the following items:

Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff
This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. This fee is already included in our charges for direct cremations, forwarding of remains, and receiving of remains. This fee includes, but is not limited to, SimpleCremation.org online arrangement platform, availability of staff 24 hours a day by phone, staff, and facilities to respond to initial request for services, use of our positive identification system, consulting with the crematory, filing of Texas death certificate and obtaining local permits, and providing assistance with social security notification.

Embalming
Use of preparation room, equipment, professional staff, and materials necessary to perform the embalming procedure. Embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a viewing. If you do not want to embalm, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement, such as direct cremation or immediate burial, that does not require you to pay for it.

Minimum preparation may be necessary for private identification viewing or witnessing of cremation when embalming is not selected and could include one or more of the following professional services: bathing, sanitary care, dressing of unembalmed remains, or setting the facial features of unembalmed remains.

Filing Insurance Policies for Advanced Funding
A filing fee of $150 will be added to the funeral purchase agreement to allow for advance funding. To that, 3% of the funeral purchase agreement amount is charged to allow a third party to complete the insurance claim.

Individuals wishing to use the proceeds of a life insurance policy to pay for funeral goods and services, in lieu of paying cash, may elect to have a third party assist you in the filing of a claim on behalf of the beneficiary(ies) of the policy. Please note that if you utilize a third party to file a claim seeking expedited receipt of life insurance proceeds on behalf of a beneficiary, there will be a fee to be paid associated with the filing of such a claim. Any such fees will be deducted from the proceeds of the life insurance policy.
Memorial Service
Coordination and direction of funeral arrangements and service. Use of facilities and staff for a memorial service at one of our Our Memorial Chapels. ** (per 2 hours)

Availability is subject to the crematory’s schedule and staff. An ID Viewing must be done within 96 hours of death, is available only to the legal next-of-kin, and is limited to 1 hour. This service may not be available after an autopsy, organ donation, trauma, or for other reasons which your funeral director can help you to understand.

Facilities and Staff for Witnessing Cremation at Crematory
Availability is subject to the crematory’s schedule and staff. A Witnessing Service can only be performed after all mandatory permits have been received by the funeral home, is limited to 12 guests (with all minors accompanied by their legal guardian), and may include a brief viewing, if possible, prior to cremation.

Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without an outside covering). State and local governments may charge fees or taxes that are not included in the above-quoted prices.
Travel Protection Plan (for pre-paid contracts; special conditions may apply)
When a death occurs anywhere in the world more than 75 miles from one’s residence, the Travel Protection Plan will facilitate the return of the decedent’s remains; including transportation and arrangement of payment to an IEA qualified service provider for transport to SimpleCremation.org. While our Travel Protection Plan provides Peace of Mind when traveling on vacation, it also covers members when visiting family and friends or even for unforeseen medical care away from home. This service is for pre-need (death has not occurred) clients. Special conditions may apply.
