Randall Tumlinson Obituary

Randall Clay “Randy” Tumlinson was called to his eternal home Monday, April 8th, 2024. He was born into this world on June 4th, 1957, to William Harley Tumlinson and Billie Ruth Tumlinson (Freeman). He is preceded in death by his parents and grandsons, Samuel and Corban. Randy and Ann (Stanfield) were joined before God on June 17th, 1978, and settled in Manor, Texas, where they raised their children Andy and Katie.

Randy held many jobs early in life before settling in as a Procurement Officer at UT Austin JJ Pickle Research Center for his professional career. His personal “careers” were something else entirely. He responded to The Call to ministry and served for over 30 years, primarily at First Baptist Church, Manor. Randy served The Lord faithfully and gladly until his illness prevented him from doing so. He also was a passionate Bluegrass aficionado and turned that into a second career as a DJ for radio station KRXT in Rockdale. Randy loved his family and friends dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with them. Whether it was a family gathering or a clandestine trip to a baseball game, he was truly joyful in the presence of those he loved.

Randy is survived by his wife, Ann, of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Stefanie Tumlinson, of Gulfport, Mississippi; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Cort Johnson, of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Duke, Eleanor, Charlotte and Barrett. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Scooter Alexander, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Laurie Parker and George Rios, of Pflugerville; and sister-in-law, Sue Stanfield, of Lexington. Also surviving are numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and other family members.

The family extends its warmest gratitude to the staff of Discovery Village Southlake Memory Care and Champion Healthcare Hospice for their loving and faithful care these last few years. We will honor the memory of Randy with a celebration of life in the near future. Donations may be made to The Gideons International in Randy’s memory or the charity of your choice.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 KJV

“O the love that drew salvation's plan, O the grace that brought it down to man, O the mighty gulf that God did span, At Calvary. Mercy there was great and grace was free, Pardon there was multiplied to me, There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary.”
